Yesterday Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj completed a grand two day inauguration festival of the new ladies’ ashram in Kalna. Their Lordships Sri Sri Guru Gaur Nityananda and Sri Sri Gandharva Govindasundar Jiu were installed and daily service was instituted.
The programme began Tuesday evening with kirtan and Hari-katha. Nearly 1,000 people attended even though no written invitations were distributed prior to the event. Remarkably, only a few hundred people stayed for prasad. Srila Acharya Maharaj was very pleased that the local community came specifically to hear Hari-katha.
The following morning Srila Acharya Maharaj led a sankirtan throughout the streets of Kalna for several hours. He visited the temples of Gauri Das Pandit and Surya Das Sarakhel, and then returned to the ashram. There he gave a brief lecture before leading noon arati. The festival concluded at midday with an opulent prasad feast though prasad distribution continued into the evening.
