Prayers


mukaṁ karoti vāchālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim

yat kṛpā tam aham vande śrī guru dīna-tāraṇam
           (Bhavartha Dipika)

I offer my obeisance unto the deliverer of the distressed, sri guru, by whose mercy a mute can speak and a cripple can cross over a mountain.”


 
viṣaye ye prīti ebe āchhaye āmāra
sei mata prīti hauk charaṇe tomāra

           (Gitavali: Shikshashtakam, 4.6)

Let me have love for Your feet in the same way that I now have love for mundanity.
“Let whatever loving attachment I now have for mundanity be transferred to the service of Guru,
Vaishnav, and the math.”



gopīnātha, hāra ye menechhi āmi 

(āmāra) aneka yatana,          ha-ila biphala, 
                    ekhana bharasā tumi
          (Kalyana-kalpa-taru: 3.3.3)

Oh Gopinath, I have accepted defeat. All of my endeavours have failed. You are now my hope.”


kothāy gelām hethāy elām kothāy yāba bhavi nāi

(Sripad Bhakti Kumud Shanta Maharaj)

Where did I go? Where have I come? Where will I go? I do not know.”



āra kabe nitāi-chā̐da karuṇā karibe

saṁsāra-vāsanā mora kabe tuchchha habe
           (Prarthana: 1.2)

When will Nitaichad bestow His mercy? When will all my worldly desires become insignificant?”


kabe nityānanda               more kari’ dayā
           chhāḍāibe mora viṣayera māyā
                       (Sharanagati: Vijnapti, 5)

When will my Nityananda be merciful to me and cause me to abandon my attachment to mundanity?”



kṛṣṇa-kṛṣṇa-kṛṣṇa-kṛṣṇa-kṛṣṇa-nāma-kīrtanaṁ
rāma-rāma-gāna-ramya-divya-chhanda-nartanam
yatra-tatra-kṛṣṇa-nāma-dāna-loka-nistaraṁ
prema-dhāma-devam eva naumi gaura-sundaram
          (Prema-dhama-deva-stotram: 22)

I offer my obeisance to Gaurasundar, the embodiment of Krishna-prem. He chants, ‘Krishna Krishna Krishna Krishna Krishna Krishna Krishna he! Rama Raghava Rama Raghava Rama Raghava raksa mam!’ He moves and dances beautifully and delivers all souls by distributing the Name of Krishna.”
